Jogventure Privacy Policy

Oct 4, 2026 · @Floris

Effective date: [date of public launch]

1. Introduction

Jogventure (“Jogventure”, “we”, “us”) is an iOS app that turns your real-world walks and runs into game progress. It is operated by Floris Kruger, an independent developer based in the United States, who is the data controller for the information described here.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Jogventure collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Jogventure iOS app and the jogventure.com website.

The short version:

  • Jogventure reads your walking and running workouts from Apple Health. Access is read-only. We never write anything to Apple Health.

  • We use your workouts only to run the game: XP, levels, challenges, streaks, milestones and rewards.

  • We do not sell your data, show ads, or include advertising or analytics trackers in the app.

  • You can permanently delete your account and everything tied to it from inside the app at any time.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what the game needs to work. Everything below is linked to your account.

Category: Account · What we collect: An Apple account identifier unique to Jogventure, your email address (your real one or Apple’s private relay address, whichever you choose), and your name if you choose to share it when you first sign in. We never receive your Apple ID password. · Where it comes from: Sign in with Apple

Category: Profile · What we collect: Username, equipped name tag, the badges and feats you choose to display, your friend code, and your device time zone (for example “America/New_York”). · Where it comes from: You and your device

Category: Workouts · What we collect: Details of the walking and running workouts you claim. See section 3. · Where it comes from: Apple Health, with your permission

Category: Game progress · What we collect: XP, level, lifetime distance, workout count and calories, badges, name tags, feats, milestones, challenges and weekly streaks, including when each was earned. · Where it comes from: Calculated by us from your claimed workouts

Category: Friends · What we collect: Friend requests you send and receive, your friends list, anyone you block, and reports you submit about other users or content. · Where it comes from: You

Category: Subscription · What we collect: The transaction record Apple issues for your Jogventure Pro subscription: product, transaction identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, trial status, price, currency and App Store country. We never receive your card or billing details. · Where it comes from: Apple (App Store)

Category: Technical · What we collect: IP address, date and time of requests, and basic request information handled by our server and hosting provider. · Where it comes from: Your device, automatically

Information that stays on your device

  • Camera. Used only to scan a friend’s QR code. Nothing is recorded, saved or uploaded.

  • Notifications. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not collect push notification tokens.

  • Sign-in token and caches. A sign-in token is stored in the iOS Keychain, and small caches (such as which workouts you have already claimed) are stored in the app.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect your location, GPS routes, heart rate, weight, height, date of birth, contacts, photos or advertising identifier. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Our website

If you send us a feature request or message through jogventure.com or by email, we receive what you choose to send and use it only to respond and improve the app.

3. Apple Health data

Jogventure asks for read-only access to three Apple Health data types: Workouts, Walking + Running Distance, and Active Energy. It does not request write access and never adds, changes or deletes anything in Apple Health.

Because Jogventure reads from Apple Health, it works with any device or app that saves workouts there, such as Apple Watch, Garmin or your iPhone. We do not connect to those services directly.

What we read

For each walking or running workout from the last 30 days, the app reads:

  • Activity type (walking or running)

  • Start time, end time and duration

  • Distance

  • Active energy burned

  • Elevation gain, when the recording device provides it

  • The name and identifier of the app or device that recorded the workout

  • The unique identifier Apple Health assigns to the workout

Other workout types are ignored. We do not read heart rate, routes or location, sleep, body measurements, or any other health data.

What is sent to our servers

Workout details stay on your device until you claim them. When you tap to claim, the details listed above are sent to our servers and stored with your account so we can award XP and update your progress. If a workout cannot be counted (for example, it is too short), we keep only its identifier, type, start time and the reason, so the app does not offer it again.

The app also checks Apple Health in the background for new workouts so it can notify you that there is something to claim. That check happens on your device.

What we never do with Apple Health data

  • Use it for advertising, marketing or data mining

  • Sell it, or share it with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else for their own purposes

  • Store it in iCloud

  • Write false or inaccurate data to Apple Health

Turning access off

You can withdraw access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Jogventure. Jogventure will stop reading new workouts. Workouts you already claimed stay in your account until you delete it (section 7).

Jogventure is a motivational game, not a medical product. It does not provide medical advice.

4. How we use your information

We use your information to run Jogventure and for nothing else. We do not use it for advertising, we do not build marketing profiles, and we do not make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Purpose: Create and secure your account, and keep you signed in · Information used: Account, technical · Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Performance of our contract with you

Purpose: Turn claimed workouts into XP, levels, challenge, streak and milestone progress, and rewards · Information used: Workouts, game progress, time zone · Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Your explicit consent, given when you allow Apple Health access and claim a workout

Purpose: Show your profile card to friends and manage friend requests and blocks · Information used: Profile, game progress, friends · Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Performance of our contract with you

Purpose: Confirm your subscription and unlock access · Information used: Subscription · Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Performance of our contract with you

Purpose: Prevent cheating and abuse, fix bugs, and keep the service reliable · Information used: Workouts, technical · Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Our legitimate interest in a fair and working service

Purpose: Answer support and privacy requests · Information used: Account, anything you send us · Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Our legitimate interest in supporting users, and legal obligation

Purpose: Comply with the law · Information used: As required · Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Legal obligation

Your time zone is used to decide which day and week a workout belongs to, for weekly streaks and time-of-day rewards. It is not used to locate you.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics software. Your information is shared only in the ways below.

Other Jogventure users

Your profile card can be seen by your friends, by people you exchange friend requests with, and by anyone you give your friend code or QR code to. The card shows only:

  • Your username, equipped name tag and level

  • Your total distance, total number of workouts and total XP

  • Up to three badges and three feats you choose to display

Other users never see your email address, name, individual workouts, workout dates or times, calories, subscription status, or friends list. You can change your friend code at any time, which makes previously shared codes stop working, and you can remove or block another user.

If you share your profile card as an image outside the app, anyone you send it to can see it and the QR code on it.

Service providers

Provider: Render Services, Inc. · What it does for us: Hosts our server and database · Information involved: All information stored on our servers

Provider: Apple Inc. · What it does for us: Sign in with Apple, App Store subscriptions, and Apple Health on your device · Information involved: Account sign-in and subscription transactions

Service providers may use your information only to provide their service to us and must protect it to at least the standard described in this policy. Apple’s handling of your information is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Legal reasons and business changes

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or security of our users or the service. If Jogventure is ever transferred to another owner, your information may transfer with it under the same commitments, and we will tell you beforehand. Apple Health data will never be transferred for advertising or sold on its own.

6. Where your information is stored and how it is protected

Your account, workouts and progress are stored on servers in the United States operated by our hosting provider, Render.

We protect your information with measures that include:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our servers

  • Sign in with Apple, so Jogventure never handles or stores a password

  • Storing your sign-in token in the iOS Keychain, and revoking it on our servers when you sign out

  • Verifying subscription transactions against Apple’s signing certificates

  • Limiting access to the production database to the developer

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

International transfers

If you use Jogventure from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States. Render is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, its UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Where a transfer is not covered by an adequacy decision, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent lawful mechanism.

7. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account exists, because your progress is built from your full history of claimed workouts. We do not delete inactive accounts automatically.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app at any time: Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes from our live database:

  • Your Apple account identifier, email address and name

  • Your profile, username and friend code

  • Every claimed workout

  • All XP, levels, badges, name tags, feats, milestones, challenges and streaks

  • Your friendships, friend requests and blocks, including on your friends’ side

  • Your subscription records

Copies may remain in routine server backups for a limited period before they are overwritten. Server request logs are kept only for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

Signing in again after deletion creates a brand new account. Your old progress cannot be restored.

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple. To stop renewal, cancel in Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions.

Other ways to remove data

  • Signing out removes your account data from the device and revokes your sign-in token on our servers.

  • Deleting the app removes everything Jogventure stored on your device. It does not delete your account.

  • If you cannot use the app, email support@jogventure.com from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.

8. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can:

  • Control permissions. Turn Apple Health, camera and notification access on or off in your device Settings. The app needs Apple Health access to count workouts. Camera and notifications are optional.

  • Change your username in Profile → Settings.

  • Hide your real email by choosing “Hide My Email” when you sign in with Apple.

  • Delete your account in the app (section 7).

  • Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing support@jogventure.com.

We respond to requests within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on your account so we do not hand your data to someone else. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland

Under the GDPR and equivalent laws, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on your consent, including for workout data from Apple Health, you can withdraw it at any time by turning off Health access and deleting your account. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already happened.

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

United States

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access, correct and delete it, and to opt out of its sale or its use for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We use sensitive information, including health-related information, only to provide the service you asked for.

If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. If the appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

Consumer health data (Washington, Nevada and similar laws)

This section is our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. Workout information such as your activity type, distance, duration, active energy and elevation gain may be “consumer health data” under laws such as Washington’s My Health My Data Act.

  • What we collect and why: the workout details listed in section 3, collected only to provide the game features described in section 4.

  • Where it comes from: Apple Health on your device, with your permission.

  • Who we share it with: only our hosting provider, which stores it for us (section 5). We do not sell consumer health data. Other users see lifetime totals on your profile card, never individual workouts.

  • Your rights: you can confirm whether we hold your consumer health data, access it, withdraw your consent, and have it deleted, using the methods above. If we refuse a request, you can appeal by emailing support@jogventure.com, and if the appeal is refused you may contact your state attorney general.

9. Children’s privacy

Jogventure is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you live in a country where the age of digital consent is higher (up to 16 in parts of the European Economic Area), you must be at least that age or have a parent’s or guardian’s consent to use Jogventure.

If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@jogventure.com and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Jogventure changes. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If we ever want to use Apple Health data for a new purpose, we will ask for your consent first.
